Great question, and very important!
Most puppies are not able to use tick preventative products until they are at least 8 weeks old (and depending on the product, they may need to wait until they are 12-16 weeks old). This can make things difficult for pet parents that want to bring their puppy along on hikes or other outdoor adventures. Not to worry! Here is some great information to help guide you into the great outdoors with your puppy!
First– talk to your vet about where you would like to bring your puppy.
Second: select a product with your vet that best suits the location you are visiting, and the age of your puppy. If you are looking for all-natural solutions, now is a great time to ask your vet for recommendations.
Third: make sure you care for your home properly as well. Ticks and Fleas can hitch a ride into your house and you’ll need to act fast to get rid of them- here are some in-home tips!
Last: below is a great chart from the AKC that illustrates the proper ages for most flea and tick treatments.
