Treat Tasting: Holiday Mutt Mints

Ring in the holiday season with a minty treat that all dogs will love, and so will your nose! This fun recipe is from Gourmet Dog Treat Recipes, and you can of course use any festive cookie cutter that you’d like! They freshen your dogs breath, have a long shelf life as well, and they are a great gift idea! ENJOY!

Tools needed:muttmint

  • cookie cutter(s)
  • rolling pin
  • whisk
  • mixing bowl
  • baking sheet


  • 2 tbsp. chopped mint leaves (can sub with parsley)
  • 3/4 c. skim milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp. honey
  • 3 tbsp. canola oil
  • 2 tbsp. wheat germ
  • 1 tbsp. brewer’s yeast
  • 1 1/2 c. whole wheat flour


  1. Preheat oven to 300°F
  2. Whisk together milk, egg, honey, oil, and mint in the mixing bowl
  3. Add wheat germ and brewer’s yeast, stir until well blended
  4. Add flour 1/4 c. at a time until dough becomes stiff
  5. Roll dough on floured surface to 3/8″ (or any desired size)
  6. Cut out biscuits with cookie cutter, place on baking sheet
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown (adjust as needed based on thickness)
  8. Leave biscuits in oven for a couple hours so they fully dry out
