It’s nut safety season! September is back to school month, and going back to school means it’s time to start packing your kids lunches again. Nuts are a common allergy these days, and dogs suffer from nut allergies too. They deserve a nut-free treat option just like humans, and we have just the recipe for them! See below…



1/2 cup pumpkin puree
1/3 cup Wow Butter, or Peabutter such as NoNuts
1/4 cup honey
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 cup of water
3 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
4 slices bacon, cooked crisp and crumbled
1 tsp. cinnamon



Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

In stand mixer with paddle attachment, mix pumpkin puree, Wow Butter (or other peanut butter substitute), honey, vanilla, water and cinnamon. Add whole wheat flour 1/2 cup at a time. Once all the flour is incorporated, add the crumbled bacon. Mixture should not be too sticky. If too sticky, add a bit more flour. If too dry, add a bit more water. Roll out on a floured surface and cut into to shape of your choice. A pizza cutter or ravioli cutter, I find, is the fastest way to cut out small squares.

Place on parchment lined baking sheets and bake at 350 degrees for 30- 35 minutes or until crisp and dry. Turn halfway through the baking process to ensure even browning.
