DIY: Safety in the City

The hustle and bustle of the city can be daunting. Safety is important for people and yes, dogs. Here are some ideas on how to make the city a safer place for your dog.

Reflective Leash and/or Collar

This is an easy project that can add an extra level of safety to your nighttime and even daytime walks. Simply get some reflective tape for clothing and place a strip on the collar (or harness) and a few strips on your leash. REI has some great options that are even weather proof, check it out.

“Pets Inside” Decal

You can find these at most pet stores. The ASPCA also has a Free Pet Safety Pack which includes a decal and ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center magnet—a great way to keep the APCC’s toll-free emergency number and website address handy in case your pets get into something they shouldn’t!  You can get the free pack here.
